"A Maritata”, in Calabria dialect, means “The Bride”. It celebrates the “ wedding” between the well known red onion of Tropea, and the red chili of Calabria.
The outcome of this sort of marriage is a sauce which is simple and, at the same time, offers a surprisingly delicious taste.
It is most appropriate as appetizer or starter, if combined with croutons. Its taste is slightly spicy and perfect when associated with grilled meat or seasoned goat milk cheese.
A real specialty of the Calabria region which cannot but please your taste.
Ingredients: Tropea IGP red onion, chilipepper, virgin olive oil, vinegar, spices, salt. Gr. 220 Recommended for flavouring rigatoni or penne pasta. Ready to heat up 5 minutes.
